Brittany #1: The AGAPA hotel in Perros-Guirec & its surroundings…

DSC_0013

Hey my sweeties! I’m finally back from holidays and ready to start writing on a more regular basis again! So as you’ve probably noticed it through my Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts, I’m freshly coming back from Perros-Guirec, a stunning place in Brittany!

I’ve had such a nice time there with my daddy and a good old friend of mine! When we got there, after a long (VERY LONG) 8 hour drive, we could finally enjoy a tea at the AGAPA hotel (where we stayed those few days) and the amazing view from the bar and then from our room!

And trust me, it was more than delightful to wake up every morning facing the ocean and leaving our awaking souls to the open seas!

Concerning our first dinner in Brittany, we had it at the restaurant of the hotel, which was (let’s say it) a pure wonder for our quite demanding French taste buds ;p! Letting you enjoy what I tried on this first night with your little greedy eyes … I shall see  you here tomorrow to discover Brittany #2…

And still, Keep holding on to what you love & enjoy the ride of life 😉

xoxo

Liebster Blog Award… Third episode ^^

Me ^^ hihi! Once again, thank you so much to La Vie Lilloise, who nominated me for my third Liebster Blog Award !!! I’m very happy about that, so once again, thanks to all of you, my very cherished readers; I wouldn’t have been able to make it without you and your always very kind support, expressed both through your Likes & lovely comments :).

Although I have more than 200 WordPress followers now (and I would never thank you, guys, enough for that), and I am therefore not really supposed to write such posts anymore, I will nevertheless answer La Vie Lilloise‘s questions; that’s also a way for you to know me a little bit better 😉

Here are her questions… (and my answers, of course :D!)

  • How long have you had your blog? I started my blog in January this year 🙂

  • How did you get the idea to start a blog? I first wanted to write this blog to share what I was living and experiencing here, in England… but then I realised I really liked blogging and sharing lots of stuff with my lovely readers, so I wanted to share more than this unforgettable and amazing experience! And here I am now… with a lovely (I hope, you’re the only ones who can say, my beauties ;p) lifestyle blog ^^

  • Why did you choose that name for your blog? Such a good question! ON MY WAY is kind of a metaphor regarding LIFE… and especially the “path of life”, if it makes any sense to you :s As my blog is about all things I like (or not ^^) about life, all my little pleasures in life (see question about my blog’s themes… n°5 ^^), I thought this picture of a girl on her way and all she meets and finds in life was quite a good name for my personal blog… something that looked like me 🙂

  • What are your hobbies? What a coincidence! I’ve had this conversation with one of my colleagues this morning :p!!! Well, first of all, I’m an equestrian; I’ve been riding horses since the age of 5 and now I’ve got my own baby (my horse, Oleo) ^^! I also love reading (19th century French and English literature… but my favourite author definitely is Victor Hugo; Les Misérables being my most loved book, it couldn’t be some other way ;p… and you may consequently understand my particular interest in the London musical and in the recently released movie!!!) and listening to music! I LOVE writing this blog (I’m totally addicted to blogging now, and everything it can bring me :)!!!). I am a musical LOVER (it might be one of the reasons why I love the English culture that much ^^) and, I must admit it, a shopaholic :p!!!

  • What is your blog about? My blog’s about EVERYTHING! Travel, Fashion, Cookery, Life, Friendship, People I meet, Musicals, Tv, Music, Literature, Movies… well in a word: LIFESTYLE 😉

  • What’s your favourite dessert? Ohhh! I don’t think I can possibly answer this question! It’s really not fair… I love so many different desserts… Hmmm, I love having a fresh fruit salad but… if I’m being a bit naughtier, I’d say my favourite dessert is the Fondant au Chocolat (I don’t know the translation in English… it would be something like “soft-centered chocolate cake” but it doesn’t sound really good, does it?! :s), or maybe the raspberry & rhubarb crumble :3 See? I can’t pick a favourite :p!

  • An object that never leaves you? My iPod!

  • What’s the first thing you do when you wake up? I have my breakfast 🙂

  • And what’s the last thing you do before going to bed? I brush my teeth (how original ! :p)

  • Your best holiday memory? The first time my father took me to London… that was the beginning of a true LOVE story ^^

  • Any projects for this summer? Work & Horse Riding! And otherwise, I intend to go back to London for a few days and also to Toulouse so that I can meet my lovely Flavie Peticoeur (I interviewed the other day… you can check the corresponding post out over here)

Well, here it is! I think I answered all the questions 😉

I hope you appreciated this little post, my dearies, which probably allowed you to know the girl behind the blog a bit better 😉

With this, I wish all of you a nice Monday evening and don’t forget…

Keep holding on to what you love & enjoy the ride of life 😉

Interview of my lovely Flavie Peticoeur ♥ (or as I like to call her #MonPetitChatPréféré ^^ ♥♥♥ #MaFlaviePeticoeur)

Shame on those of you (well no, I’m just kidding but really!!!), who have never heard of the very sweet & talented Flavie Peticoeur, whose Fashion & Lifestyle Blog has delighted lots of “petits chats” for quite a few years now ;)! Flavie Peticoeur is not only a truly talented blogger, but she’s also one of the sweetest persons I know (and this thanks to this fabulous adventure on the blogosphere :D!).

Woooo I’m so excited to write that post!!!! Ever since I received Flavie’s answers to all my questions, the only thing I’ve been waiting for is that particular & precious moment, when I will finally be able to publish the interview of my very sincerely cherished Flavie. I know her real name’s not Flavie, but that’s how I chose to call her in this article, as it is the name of her lovely blog’s character ;)!

It’s been a while since I wanted to interview my adorable Flavie Peticoeur :)… not only because she’s one of my most faithful readers, but also and above all because I literally ‘fell in love’ with her blog and immediately got along with her character of Flavie! Plus, between bloggers, who apparently like each other’s blog, we simply decided to keep in touch via whatever existing social media 😉 and now… I think I definitely view Flavie as, what I could call, a model… or even a sister! She’s a very strong inspiration; whatever I’m trying to achieve now, whether it concerns the blog or my professional life, she’s like the big sister one wants to follow the example of xx !

Well, I think I’ve been babbling enough so… before you read the actual interview, I’ve gathered of few of her very beloved illustrations, which will introduce the very sweet Flavie  to those of you, who wouldn’t know her yet 😉 I know you will LOVE them… who wouldn’t?!

(This interview is a bit different from Jamie’s one, regarding that we couldn’t arrange to meet and so we did it via email ^^)

So… Enjoy! 😉

1. Who is Flavie Peticoeur? #TheGirlBehindtheBlog ^^

I am a 23 year old marketer & communicant. I was an independent consultant for a while, now I am a Community Manager, working for an awesome social network… My dad would tell you I have been drawing ever since I was able to hold a pen ! So my two passions are communication and illustration… Blogging was therefore made for me !! My real name is Florence ; I named my character as a tribute to my beloved GrandMa !

2. When did you start writing your blog and why?

I’ve had the blog for a while, but I really started taking care of it (like a baby !) in October 2012. People were positive and supportive when I showed them my illustrations ; and I really wanted to build my Flavie a little universe !

3. What is your blog mainly about?

It is about fashion, beauty and lifestyle. I believe Flavie Peticoeur has a special way to approach these topics … In fact, a woman’s life is so complex (jobs, husbands, boyfriends, kids …) that it is nice to have a ‘light’ place where shallowness is ok ! The blog presents nice stuff that girls might like to buy : it is easy, fun and friendly!

4. Has your blog opened you doors to any fantastic ‘adventures’ like meeting with other bloggers, travels, etc?

Oh yes ! I really enjoy answering all the mails I might receive (about 70 a day), comments, etc. And that leads to build bonds and connections with some of them (a lot actually). And this is simply awesome. Some readers follow my wedding preparation, tell me their story, their projects, ask me for advice … I end up knowing a significant number of them : and this is marvellous.
I have also met a lot of journalists, bloggers …

5.Are you sometimes asked for collaborations & advertisement?

About twice a week ! To be honest it is mostly advertisement that brands ask for. Most of the time my answer is no. I have the most profound respect for the lovely people that read my blog, and what they like about it, is that it is sincere. I feel that if I accept promoting something that is not appropriate, or doesn’t fit their expectations, it would be like a betrial.
So when I do accept, they’re sure I have chosen the best product, the best collaborator, and so they can trust my choice !

6. How much time do you spend on your blog?

From 2 to 4 hours a day ! Luckily I don’t sleep much ! It is mainly about answering people, which is time-consuming ; but that’s so fun to do ! It is a bit harder to find ideas for articles : I always stroll around with a little drawing notebook in order to be able to write anything that might pop up !

7. What is your typical ‘blogger day’ composed of?

7h30 : I wake up ! I take a coffee, wipe my eyes, put my glasses on and LET’S GO ! First I check my emails and  answer them… Check blog’s comments … Write my article if I am inspired … Then I stay tuned most of the day in case there’s something that needs me to answer or be reactive to. But now that I am starting my new job (next week yay !) ; I think my blog-rythm is about to get all shook up !

8. What kind of atmosphere did you want to create on your blog?

Something fun, light and easy ! I wanted to be able to talk about everything I like : fashion, beauty, travels, culture … Without having an odd patchwork sense ! I think it does go well ! I can write about red lipsticks and high range of arty movies ; and readers are always there to like it ! I feel lucky to have that diversity of topics !

9. What do you like the most about blogging?

The contact ! I am a ‘people-person’ ; I like to talk, exchange, discover about others, and meeting virtually all these people is a thrill for me ! I also love sharing my illustrations. I must admit that I am surprised every time someone tells me « this is nice»! The whole experience is really fun !

10. What kind of posts do you prefer writing?

Clearly the illustrations ones : it is fun finding new ways to introduce them, new concepts, new ideas… My Flavie illustrates everything I love : simplicity, chic, discretion… She is playful and yet very serious with her strict glasses… She is like a tiny summary of all the things that women are made of ! These are clearly my favorite articles !

11. Which post has been the most successful so far? And which post has been your favourite so far?

The most successful has been the one about BB creams (http://flaviepeticoeur.com/2012/11/13/bb-cremes-le-guide-pour-choisir-la-bonne/) It was a guide to pick the right one. It has been a lot of work (and experimentations !) to gather all these pieces of advice ; it was awesome to see that the readers liked it !
Every last article I write is my favourite, and then the following one becomes my favourite… It’s my validation criteria… If I don’t feel that way, it’s that the article won’t thrill my readers either !

12. Which supreme advice would you give to a new blogger , … Hmm… like me ^^?

Sincerity and proximity are the blogger’s middle name ! As long as what you write comes out straight from your heart ; there’s always going to be people to like it ! If you feel close to the people you write to, they will automatically feel close to you ! And here they are : all the elements for an extraordinary blogging experience !

That was a VERY great interview, wasn’t it?! I would like to thank Flavie a lot for her answers and her time 🙂 I would also like to thank her  SO much for this illustration (which is nothing but my blogger portrait – I really LOVE it so thank you my darling ;)!) she ESPECIALLY made for this post! ♥♥

‘Stay then…’

That’s what Jamie told me the other day when I said to him I really didn’t want to go back to France.

“Stay then…”

The answer seems so obvious! But maybe it is!? After all, why would I go if I don’t want to? why would I come home if that makes me unhappy, sad and depressed? There is no point in it, apart from the happiness of my dad apparently!

I know this is already the second time I write about it, but it truly tortures me! I know I’ll have to go back in a few months and I will… and I also know that ANYWAY I’ll be back here for good in less than two years (and I’m not even talking of all the opportunities I’ll have so that I can come back in the next two years! :D), but the only thought of leaving my dad alone when I know it will destroy him (even in two years! Even if he has two years to get his head round the idea… It will still not be enough for him!) also kills me!

But when I think about it, I clearly see that my dad is being selfish! The other day, I talked to him on the phone and he told me that even if he knew I was really happy in England (and that actually I’ve never been that fine for quite a long time), he couldn’t get used to living without me! Oh Come On!!!! It’s not because he can’t “live without me”, it’s just because he needs some company! He didn’t especially want to see me when he was with his NEW girlfriend in London the other day (I spent my Saturday evening on my own, because they were going to the opera!), even if, initially, the aim of their trip was to see me (not that I think I’m essential, but when he told me this girl offered him a weekend in London (which actually was not true… I figured it out during the weekend! NO COMMENT.) because she knew he NEEDED to see me, and so on, and so on, well excuse me if I understood they were REALLY coming to see me!).

I nevertheless spent a wonderful weekend in London (it’s always great ANYWAY!), I didn’t get lost in the tube (which I think deserves a congratulation, doesn’t it?! :p) and I met Jamie, a very nice person!

But here I am now! I’m gonna go back to France in a few months, be the girl of the family again and try to put up with all the mess (the one I’m likely to find when I come home (because with two men, two dogs and a cat in it… I don’t want to imagine how it’s gonna look like! :s) but also the ‘family’ one). Indeed, I’ll have to face my brother, who’s getting more and more withdrawn, my dad and his all-the-time complaining (it gets really annoying as the time passes by) , my too protective & even possessive grandparents and my irresponsible, dizzy & frivolous mother! (Even if I don’t see her anymore, I can assure you that I hear from her everyday… and not in a good way if you know what I mean!).

Anyway, all I know now is that I feel SAFE here, in England. I know these problems are still here and will somehow always be if there’s at least still one person (in my family), who doesn’t move on… But I want to move on and feel HAPPY & SAFE. I chose England to be so, and I know I will. After all, what are not even two years in a life? We could say nothing… but here and now, I came to the point that it’s maybe two years too many.

Some people will say that I run away from all this, some others will simply say that I follow my dreams! And I say that’s maybe both! But I don’t mind, because I know that I’ve found a home (you know this place you call HOME your entire life wherever you go, wherever you are). Well, England is that place for me :). And as one says, we always find our way back home. Right?

“We all flee in hope of finding some ground of security”
― M.T. Anderson, The Kingdom on the Waves

And as far as you’re concerned, my lovely dear readers, I think you know what to do…

Keep holding to what you love & enjoy the ride of life 😉
