E-Interview with Celinde Schoenmaker

Wow! I’m finally releasing this post I was really looking forward to writing! I promised some of my readers another interview with a cast member of Les Misérables, and it was obvious to me to choose Celinde, as she is one of my three favourite performers of the former cast (I’m by the way talking about it a little bit more in this post here :)… in case you would have missed it ^^ !!!).

Celinde is an amazing performer! She was playing Fantine in Les Misérables and is about to play Jenny in Love Story. This girl is just brilliant! As I have already written it in another post, her voice is GOLD… I mean it sounds like gold (if it makes sense to you?!)! Every note is beautiful and makes each second of a performance magic! When you listen to her, you’re like in a completely different world! Her voice and the way she sings is so marvellously exquisite & angelic & pure that you feel it can’t be real… Not even after a second, you’re not in this world anymore… A second is well enough for her to cast her magic spell, and this spell is not casted with a wand… but with a voice!

photo

Having said that, I think I’ll try to plan a little trip to Holland to go see her Jenny ;)! And I actually hope most of my readers will try to do the same, because she’s way worth it!!!

With this, let’s focus on the main point of this article… her interview! Or slightly E-Interview! Indeed, it was too complicated for both of us to meet, so I effectively couldn’t do the same as with Jamie’s interview :/! It’s true to say that I prefer interviewing someone who is in front of me, but one can sometimes not manage to do everything they want so… :(! I would have loved to meet her, as I think she’s a very nice person and as my first interview with a member of this very friendly-looking former cast went pretty well (I think I can say that ^^, it was a really lovely time), but also as she is keen on horse riding, well… I think we could have understood each other :p!!

1. Who is Celinde Schoenmaker?

Celinde schoenmaker is a 24 year old dutchie who likes to sing and act !

2. Have you always wanted to have a career in musical theatre?

Yes, ever since I was about 8 years old and started as Tessie in Annie the musical!

3. How would you qualify the importance of musical theatre in your life?

VERY important, it’s my big love!

4. Every little girl has a dream… what was yours?

Becoming a vet! Haha, and then a pilot and then I thought… No I gotta do something on stage!

5. How did you come to play the role of Fantine in Les Misérables in London?

I auditioned for it! Came over when I heard they were auditioning.

6. How would you describe what/how you felt when you learnt you were coming to the West End?

Oh wow, that was the best feeling in the world!!! It’s any actors dream to be on West End at some point in your career. So I felt incredibly lucky!

7. What did this experience bring you eventually? Professionally or/and personally speaking?

I mean, as a performer I gained my first bit of experience, ’cause I only graduated a year ago. It was great for me to stand on my own, to feet again, after having spent 4 years at drama school.

8. What is Celinde Schoenmaker’s typical day of work?

Ohhh that changed a bit now because I’m waiting for Love story to start. But a typical day would be… me getting up late, getting breakfast, talking with some friends on Facetime or Skype (if I’m working abroad), going to the gym, getting some food, and then going to do the show! But because we’re touring with Love Story, I think it might be a bit different time-wise.

9. Do you have a kind of “special routine” or little tips so as to get ready before the shows?

Always vocal warm up, and I drink water…. other than that if the show’s really in my body, I don’t have to prepare for hours!

10. What do you like the most about your job?

I LOVE singing on stage and sharing my part of the story with the audience. Gives me goosebumps thinking about it.

11. Among all the shows you’ve been in, is there one you particularly really fancied?

LES MIS of course! Because it was my first job after drama school and I’ve loved the show since I was a little girl. Also, Fantine was my dream role !

12. Do you have a favourite musical? If yes, which one?
Is there a particular sort of musicals you really like? (regarding the main themes of a musical)

LES MIS!  I think it’s the mother of all musicals.

13. In Les Mis… Who is your favourite character? Would you have rather played another character that would maybe have been closer to you? What’s your favourite song? And which song of that show speaks the most to you?

I think…. Javert, just because I would love to sing Javert’s Suicide! Fantine was always the one part I wanted to play. I think my favorite song of the show is of course I dreamed a dream and…. the Confrontation.

14. Do you have hobbies? Things you like doing (apart from singing ^^)?

I LOVE CYCLING! In Holland I cycle everywhere. Ehm, I also love dancing, and I’ve had a horse for a long time but had to stop when I was 18 when I went to England. But I still love to do that!

15. Do you have any project after that fantastic show? I heard you were going back to Netherlands?

I’m doing a Disney Concert in August and then in September I’m starting Love Story

16. I’ve also got a few questions from your Twitter Fan page @CelindeSHair :

   a. What is your vocal range?

Vocal range: high soprano.

We can by the way admire another performance of Celinde in the video below! 😉

b. What is your character like in LOVE STORY? (as it apparently is what’s next for you^^)

Jenny is a strong & bright young woman who is a student at Radcliff University, falls in love with Oliver, she gives up her dream of becoming a professional musician to be with him but then she gets sick…

And here it is my lovely, the very expected interview of Celinde Schoenamker :)! I’m more than happy to have done that and I would like to thank Celinde a lot for taking some of her time to answer all my questions! That’s very kind of you, so thanks a lot!!!  Xxx

Another interview of the amazing Celinde –>

With this,

Keep holding on to what you love & enjoy the ride of life 😉

Feeling blessed to know THEM…

Favim.com-29766

“Live your truth. Express your love. Share your enthusiasm. Take action towards your dreams. Walk your talk. Dance and sing to your music. Embrace your blessings. Make today worth remembering.”

― Steve MaraboliUnapologetically You: Reflections on Life and the Human Experience

(That’s what I’m gonna try to do anyway… make this post worth remembering for all the people it is dedicated to…)

“THEM”… all the fantastic people I’ve met and learnt to know lately. Their names? You probably don’t care, but I nonetheless want to mention them, because it matters to me… I’m sure you already know both Florence (also called Flavie Peticoeur on her blog, my adorable #PetitChatPréféré) and Jamie (the lovely & amazing current Marius, performing in Les Misérables at the Queen’s Theatre in London) I had the chance to interview a bit earlier this year! You may also know Chloé (from La penderie de Chloé – blog) who shares a common taste for cider (not to say LOVE… you’re gonna think we’re alcoholic :p! Actually naww, not with cider :p!!!). I would also like to talk about three incredible British girls, whose names are Caroline, Becky and Laura (a very great bunch of people ^^). And the last persons I want to mention are the incredible girls, running Jamie Ward’s and Celinde Schoenmaker’s fan pages; I’m obviously talking about my very much loved Jenna & Stela and Julia (Love you, girls xxx)!

Now that I’ve made the presentations, I think I can start explaining why I feel so blessed. I’m saying “blessed”, but I could also say “thankful” and “lucky”, or even “happy”… because those people are SIMPLY & TRULY amazing, and they do make me happy :)!

Steve Maraboli once wrote, “It is only with true love and compassion that we can begin to mend what is broken in the world. It is these two blessed things that can begin to heal all broken hearts.” When I arrived in England, I was totally, completely broken… my family was entirely destroyed, my life in France was kind of a mess (and… still is, to be honest, but I’ll deal with that when I’m back :s), I couldn’t see the good things in life anymore… (hopefully, the only things I could hold on to were my cat and my horse – fortunately, my very much loved horse is still here, living his BEAUTIFUL horse life, and still not bothered by all the bullshit life can bring :p, but my little cat is not well at all and it truly kills me 😦 …)  but since then… I met some very lovely, adorable, amazing, incredible, gentle and sweet people over here… across the sea 😉 (I could find lots of adjectives of that kind to describe them, but I think I shall stop here for the moment ^^)! And those people (that now includes the ones I mentioned at the very beginning of this post) changed everything… In a word, they gave me my smile back :D! What’s more important than that?! Nothing really… I think they simply proved me, showed me that there was a place to belong to, a place where a happy life was well and truly possible, this so very special and cherished place, where I met them… England!

So, yeah! I feel blessed and thankful and lucky to know these people… my lovely British family, Caroline, Jamie, Florence, Chloé, Jenna, Becky, Laura, Stela and Julia…

So to you, guys, who have spent at least four minutes with me in some way :p, I just want to say THANK YOU! Thank you for being in my life today, thank you for bringing joy back in my life, thank you for being who you are and doing what you do! I love you like I love sparkles, I love you like I love my horse and cat, I love you like I love my family and I love you like I love having the last word ;p! And, believe me, THAT’S real love ;)! Xxx

(I would like to say a special thank you to Jamie, who definitely made my day the other evening (see! I have still not got over it ;p!) when he sent that very sweet & lovely tweet). 🙂

With this, the only thing I’d like to wish you, my very dear readers, is to feel that way too… Feeling thankful and blessed for what and who you have in your life that makes you happy… I truly & sincerely wish this for all of you, simply because, I think, that’s one of the keys to happiness, to YOUR happiness 😉

So…

Keep holding on to what you love & enjoy the ride of life 😉

Much love ❤

xoxo

What about a walk in Paris?!

Today I want to take you to Paris, but I particularly want to take someone over there. This person (who created Jamie Ward’s Fan Page on Twitter) has just turned 15 today, so it’d be kind of my birthday present. And who could be a better guide than a French ‘demoiselle‘? I mean, even if you’re not Parisian, you are French! and try to find a French person who’s never been to Paris? I personally don’t know anyone in that case, but if that kind of persons ‘exists’, well… SHAME ON YOU!!!

Consequently, so as to help this young British ‘demoiselle‘ to plan her little trip to Paris, I decided to share, through this blogpost, all my must-dos, must-sees & my diverse crushes in Paris ;)!

First, I’m going to give you all my favorite sights … It may seem (and actually it is) a bit touristy, but you can’t miss the following sightseeings (THERE’S NO WAY!!!)

Our beautiful reigning Lady, I’m obviously talking about the Eiffel Tower…

The amazing Musée du Louvre…

The gorgeous Notre-Dame…

Then if you want to have an old good “green time” & some fresh air, a little walk in the 14th arrondissement, in the lovely Jardin du Luxembourg (where, by the way, Cosette & Marius were supposed to have met #LesMisérables) or in the Parc Monceau will definitely make your day!

Then I think, you can’t miss the majestic Opéra Garnier…

I’m just gonna add a few places, which have been suggested by Amélie, a friend of mine; The Place de la Madeleine (“one of the most Parisian place in Paris” she wrote), Place Vendôme,the Catacombs (“if you don’t fear the ghosts of the French Revolution” she made notice ^^ By the way, I L.O.V.E. that comment Amélie!) and the old house of Nicolas Flamel (“one of the oldest house of the town, which today hosts a great restaurant!” she eventually declared) (51 rue de Montmorency, 3ème arrondissement)

As far as I’m concerned, my two very favorite places to be in Paris are, without any doubt, the Pont des Arts (where lovers are used to hooking padlocks on the bridge – I am definitely a romantic person, so this is (to me) a not-to-miss!!!! And my dear little British girl, if there’s a guy out there, who makes your heart beat, and if you wanna leave a part of you in Paris… well, there’s nothing else for it but to buy a lovely padlock ;)!) & the very stunning Montmartre!

Furthermore, I would like to add two must-dos, at least two things I really fancy doing when I’m in Paris… The first thing is the traditional little cruise on a ‘bateau-mouche’ on the Seine (which is a river boat), where you can enjoy DELICIOUS dishes, and the second one is the unmissable ‘rendez-vous’ 52 rue de L’Université (75007 Paris), where you can get a perfume made-to-measure (it’s really cool!!!! LOVE it :D!)

Now, the second part of this post is more related to foodies (and VERY Yummy foodies, please!)… Mmmm! I can already see you drooling over!!! You’ll especially find here all my good addresses (in a word, my favorite ones :p!)

Let’s start with the section I like to call “Lunch & Brunch” (it also include “Dinner” but the other two rhyme! :D)

The very stylish Maxim’s… (3 rue Royale, 75008 Paris)

My very cherished Café Pinson… (6 rue du Forez, 75008 Paris)

The lovely La Chambre aux Oiseaux… (48 rue Bichat, 75010 Paris)

If you want to taste the very delicate French flavors, there’s nowhere else to go but to Le Dauphin… (131 Avenue Parmentier, 75011 Paris). It may be a bit expensive, but it’s DEFINITELY worth it! Trust me!

And if you feel like having a pizza because you’re fed up with French food (which I truly doubt – and no, I’m not chauvinistic when I say that!), you can eat very good pizzas (if not the best in Paris, but this is only my humble opinion :p) at Pink Flamingo Pizza… (105 rue Vieille du Temple, 75003 Paris)

And at last, I’ll finish that post with the best places to have the so precious British TEA TIME!!! (I’m an addict as well, so no offense ;)!)

Well first, you’ve got the very renowned French macaroons maker, Ladurée, where you’ll undoubtedly enjoy the most refined macaroons (or should I say ‘macarons‘?! but not only ;)!) (21 rue Bonaparte, 75006 Paris)

The very girly and colorful Bogato… (7 rue Liancourt, 75014 Paris)

And eventually, the VERY, VERY, VERY Yummy Yummy Oh Mon Cake… (154 rue Saint-Honoré, 75001 Paris)

And here it is (at least, I think :)!) I hope you, guys, enjoyed this post & I particularly hope that it will be useful to my little British girl, who (I’m sure) will enjoy Paris 😉

Now, before I leave you with this, I just want to say what I’m used to say…

Keep holding on to what you love & enjoy the ride of life 😉

xoxo (or maybe, for once, should I say… Bisous Bisous)

PS: When you’re in Paris, my lovely one (or my sweet British girl, as I’ve called you all along that post), don’t mind the taxi drivers (everybody knows they’re quite rude ^^, unless you’re lucky and you’ll get one a bit nicer than the others… but don’t be pessimistic if it doesn’t happen, I’ve never had a ‘sweet’ Parisian taxi driver neither :p!) But most of all, ENJOY!!!!
