✰ LONDON LONDON ✰

send from InstaText(Free iPhone_iPad App)

THIS is a post I’ve always wanted to write but… I’ve never really taken the time to write a post as incredible as it has to be when you talk about London! You know my love for this city and its inhabitants, so it was just a matter of time for me to get to write an article about it ^^!!!

But… today I’m not only writing for this reason… I promised one of my good friend’s little sister (who is going to London in a few days!!! Lucky her!!!!) that I would give her my good addresses in London and tell her what my favourite bits of this amazing city were!

So my lovely ones and my little sweet pea, get ready ’cause here’s my TOP 3…

1. Covent Garden (© photos by Tec Pateja – Airbnb)

Without any doubt, my favourite place to be in London… This district, full of street artists, very talented cheese maker (and I know what I’m talking about! Shall I remind you that I’m French?! :p), gorgeous museums, great taverns, operas and overwhelming with energy, IS the place you have to go to if you’re the kind of persons who dare get off the beaten track ;)!

2. The West End & Soho (© photos by Sophie Carr & Tec Pateja – Airbnb)

My second favourite place in London is OBVIOUSLY the West End and Soho! These districts are maybe the most famous districts that don’t sleep at night! The perpetual hustle and bustle of this area is just crazy and provides such a good feeling :)!!! And what can I say about the West End other than quoting its brilliant musicals, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus… I think everything that has to be said is within those 3 amazing locations and this great thing that characterises the West End that is the musicals!!!

And in Mayfair, not far from Covent Garden and Marylebone, you’ve got one of the greatest museum of London… I’m obviously talking about the maybe-sometimes-unexpected Opera Gallery…Bowie-Opera-Gallery-19

3. The South Bank (© photos by Daniel Burman – Airbnb)

In my opinion, this region of London is one of the greatest and most beautiful! Everything there seems so big and great (from the diverse and various street arts to the giant buildings, without forgetting the sight of the city itself) it’s really hard to believe you’re actually there! The South Bank definitely provides the most incredible panoramic view you can get of London!!!

Closely followed by…

4. Marylebone (© photos by Daniel Burman – Airbnb)

Marylebone, with its perfect geographic situation near the GREAT Hyde Park, is the synonym of elegance and refinement! There, you’ll find lovely little book shops, family patisseries and upmarket shops that will please the most sophisticated ;)!

5. Saint-James (© photos by Rebecca Duke – Airbnb)

The select district of central London is a symbol of prestige! There, the lovely Saint-James Park, impressive antiquarian markets, art galleries and grandiose terraces are on the cards!!!

6. Camden Town (© photos by Tec Pateja, Sophie Carr & Rebecca Duke – Airbnb)

Formerly a hospital for horses, Camden, which is situated behind Regent Street, is now one of the most expensive districts of London!!! Leather, nails, combat boots, pubs, pop art, concerts and markets are THE key words to describe the atmosphere in Camden! In a few words, there’s everything you need to fill your rebel’s soul ;p!!!

7. Greenwich (© photos by Rebecca Duke – Airbnb)

The architectural wonders, the parks, the antiquarian markets and the boats reminding of the south west London maritime history are all the elements that make the charm of Greenwich :)!

9. Melt (Nothing Hill)

To all my lovely readers, who, just like me, LOVE chocolate, THIS shop is definitely made for you (I mean… for US :p!!!)!

10. Westminster (© photos by Tec Pateja – Airbnb)

If you’ve never been to London before, I really advise you to have a big and clever browse around Westminster! With all its monuments, the Parliament, Big Ben and Buckingham, this district is well and truly THE MUST-DO in London, especially as it constitutes the cultural and political centre of the city!

11. Saint-Pancras (© photos by Rebecca Duke – Airbnb)

Simply stunning! But the best bit of Saint-Pancras is definitely its beautiful and luxurious hotel (you have by the way an overview in the video ;p)!!!

Also a not-to-miss part of London, if only for its astonishing architecture!!!!

13. Kensington (© photos by Sophie Carr & Tec Pateja – Airbnb)

Or the princess district! 😉 With its old buildings, its rustic cheese shops and patisseries, its international embassies, its gardens, palace and museums, Kensington is without the ounce of a doubt the VERY posh district of London!!!

There’s so much more I could write about this city, but there will surely be other posts about my very cherished London ❤ ❤ ❤

Now, I just wanna wish a safe trip to my friends’ little sister and an amazing time there,  in the city I fell in love with…

But with all that, don’t forget to…

Keep holding on to what you love & enjoy the ride of life 😉

Much much LOVE ❤

I was HOME… I was in London <3

“I live in my own little world. But its ok, they know me here.”
― Lauren Myracle

London has become my little world, my other home, my shelter…

Wow! That was a very intense weekend! I can’t believe how quickly it’s gone 😮 !!! I was so looking forward to telling everything (or almost :p!) but I’ve got so many things to tell about this weekend that this post is only the first of a long list! As I had told you last week, I spent the past three days in London… I wanted to go back there at least once before going back to France at the end of this week :s!

This weekend was truly amazing! I’ve done lots of things within such a short time… I couldn’t even imagine that was possible :p! I also met some friends there I eventually had to say goodbye to… and to be honest, that was really really hard! It was very emotional (but I’ll tell you a bit more about that part in another article ;)!!!).

Let’s focus on everything I did when I was there…

First I chose an hotel in the district of Soho, which means I was really not far from all the theatres and thus the “musical world” ^^ (that’s just SO part of London that I couldn’t be far from it)! That was so great! This place honestly never sleeps at night! This is amazing!

DSCF3095 DSCF3096 DSCF3121 DSCF3123 DSCF3122 I was home… I was in London DSCF3147 DSCF3142 DSCF3128 DSCF3124

The first thing I did when I arrived on the Friday evening was to go for a walk to Piccadilly… Just to realise that I was well and truly home again :)! You know!? When you come back in the city you love and you view as your own home, you simply need to feel that you definitely belong there… all over again!

DSCF3094 DSCF3097

On the Saturday morning, I went to Covent Garden (definitely one of my favourite places in London)! I did a bit of shopping for my dad (as it was Father’s day yesterday ^^) and took some lovely pics…(at least, I hope you’ll like them :p). I went to my favourite shop, The Tea Palace (haha #tealover) and also to the adorable & colourful Pylone shop! While discovering the pics below, you’ll notice that I couldn’t prevent myself from going back to the place I met this person, who is such an incredible friend to me now #StarbuckS :)! I also spent about an hour listening to the gorgeous voice of Evie Anderson! This girl is truly amazing… she definitely should have her place at the theatre, opera or whatsoever! I liked her performance so much that I even bought her CD and I took a video of her singing the brilliant song of Les Mis, I dreamt a dream… What else?! :p

And finally, on the Sunday, I met two Uni friends who did their placement in London and who were my guides through central London… That was such a lovely day… except from the rain :/

DSCF3132 DSCF3133 DSCF3134 DSCF3136 I was home… I was in London3

Here it is, my lovely ones… the first post about my weekend in London! I hope you’ll like it and I wish you a very nice Monday afternoon :)!!!

“Home wasn’t a set house, or a single town on a map. It was wherever the people who loved you were, whenever you were together. Not a place, but a moment, and then another, building on each other like bricks to create a solid shelter that you take with you for your entire life, wherever you may go.”
― Sarah DessenWhat Happened to Goodbye

It is indeed thanks to all the amazing people I met in London that allows me now to say that this place is home too…

(Just a glimpse of one of the next coming articles 😉 xxx)

Keep holding on to what you love, my angels & enjoy the ride of life 😉

When you know you’ve just found a friend…

♪ The day we met,
Frozen I held my breath
Right from the start
I knew that I’d found a home for my heart… ♪

“When you meet someone for the first time, that’s not the whole book. That’s just the first page.” – Brody Armstrong

I’m sure it happened to you too to meet someone for the first time for a reason or another and then know that this person was somehow a friend you hadn’t met yet, didn’t it? It is Maya Angelou who once wrote that “a friend might be waiting behind a stranger’s face.” Well… that’s what I mean; you meet a person and after a while, you know that this person can totally become one of your friends one of these days…
That’s what happened to me the other day when I was in London and interviewed Jamie (the current ‘Marius’ of West End… for those of you who wouldn’t have read my post!).
http://www.whitneyneal.com:starbucks-coffee.jpg
http://static.guim.co.uk:sys-images:Guardian:Pix:pictures:2008:02:25:0225_starbucks_460x276
http://www.ilasweb.com:public:blogfiles:2011:08:starbucks
I wanted to illustrate my article and as we met in front of a Starbuck and then did the interview inside, it was the only thing I could think about :s! :p
In the post with the interview, I wrote that if I could have had a big brother, I wish he had been just like Jamie. I didn’t write it randomly! He really gave me this impression that one day, after a while, after several ‘meetings’, he could be that friend to me… the kind of ‘big brother’ friend you can talk to and laugh with whenever and wherever you want! I just think he is & can be one of those true friends who belong to us inalienably – simple, wise, contented and living in others.
Let me quote Nadia Scrieva now, who once wrote “Each meeting occurs at the precise moment for which it was meant. Usually, when it will have the greatest impact on our lives.” I don’t know if it’s because the one I thought was my best friend decided to put me in the ‘just good friends packet’ and that because of it I just felt like all my friends were going to let me down or whatsoever, but I think you know when someone is meant to become your friend one day. And feeling that you may have met a future good friend is very comforting… it feels really good, just like you could breathe again. I’ve already told you about the family I’m living with (here in England) & I truly view as my adopting (and DEFINITELY adopted) family 😉 Well, they belong to those people who give me faith again and who makes me want to forget all the bad things that has happened within my family (the French one :p!). When I interviewed Jamie, I felt that he could be one of these people ;).
“I’ve heard it said that people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led to those who help us most to grow
If we let them and we help them in return.”

― Stephen Schwartz
How did I know that though? How can I say that? The answer is quite hard to find, because when it comes to something you feel, you don’t really know the reason, do you? :p. I would probably say that part of the reason why I felt he could be a friend is because he told me his favorite musical was Les Miérables (which is my favorite book, as you already know it!), and as P.G. Wodehouse once wrote, “There is no surer foundation for a beautiful friendship than a mutual taste in literature” ;). Another reason, which could explain this is when I figured out that what being on stage brought him was exactly what it brought me to write to you on the blog,… which, by the way, makes me think of a C.S. Lewis’ quote (another one!), “Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: “What! You too? I thought I was the only one.”  No, but honestly and apart from that, I don’t know and I think I cannot really know… I just… know that, if we can keep in touch (and I’m sure we can, can’t we? is it the 21st century or the middle age?!), we’re likely to be friends someday…
I know there are lots of very nice people on Earth and Jamie is definitely one of them, but deep inside of me, I knew (this last Monday when we met) that this guy wasn’t meant to be just one more nice people of this world, but a person I could definitely count among my friends ;)!
With this, I’m gonna leave you with this little quote (the last one, promised! :D)… just so that everyone can keep faith 😉

“Don’t be dismayed by goodbyes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends.” – Richard Bach

And of course,

Keep holding on to what you love & enjoy the ride of life 😉

London, London ❤

Back from London once again… and once more I LOVED IT! Nevertheless, I still have (and I always do when I live this wonderful place) this little pain inside of my heart which kind of reminds me that this is where I belong… England feels like home to me (definitely & maybe strangely more than in France) but London is even more than that! I don’t know why, I couldn’t explain… I just feel like everything’s gonna be alright when I’m there. And that’s all we need, isn’t it?

Anyway, I’ll probably be back in a few weeks and then I’ll live in England for good so… (I just have to organize everything properly, but there’s no way I’m staying in France… you already know that, don’t you? 😉 ).

Well… let’s come to the facts now! This Easter weekend was very lovely! I saw my dad (with his new girlfriend, but this is a detail! She’s nice but she’s just… SO French, like POSH French, which is everything I can’t bear :s but I won’t say anything if my dad is happy with her anyway so… !) and we did lots of stuff as usual ;)! You’ll find some pictures (I hope you’ll like) which can sum up these three days. First displayed is a glance of the hotel where I was staying (not bad, isn’t it?), then you have some photos of Harrods and its environs, of Covent Garden (where I met the incredible Jamie Ward – by the way, you can check out my interview here), as well as snapshots of Trafalgar Square and finally one of few purchases, which (I hope) will comfort me!
